For Clinicians

So, your clients need to learn how to cook –

That’s where I come in.

Common Kitchen provides recovery-informed, virtual cooking support designed specifically for clients in eating disorder recovery. This service bridges the gap between nutrition counseling and daily life — helping clients move from “I know what I’m supposed to do” to “I can actually do this in my kitchen.”

And you need someone you can trust with teaching them.

hi, I'm meagan -

Dietitian turned Recovery-Informed Kitchen Coach

When I was working as a dietitian, I kept seeing the same struggle: people who'd done the hard work in recovery, or who genuinely wanted to cook for themselves, but had no idea where to start or how to stick with it.

Sometimes it was because of disordered eating. Sometimes because no one ever really taught them. Sometimes because their brain  just doesn't work the way most recipes and cooking instructions assume it should.

Common Kitchen exists to bridge that exact gap.

Kitchen coaching that supports your work with clients.

In kitchen coaching sessions, I’m not acting as a dietitian—I serve as a supportive, skill-building guide who can help your clients learn essential skills like:

  • Cooking techniques
  • Kitchen safety
  • Meal planning and prep

All in a safe, supportive learning environment that won’t accidentally trigger them with poor word choices or recommend “ideas” that overwhelm their busy brains.

Safety

Before we cook, we get comfortable by setting up your space for emotional and physical safety—so you can freely move around your kitchen with confidence.

Structure

All of our work includes gentle structure to help you feel more at ease in your space (like fridge and pantry setup and easy tips for prepping ingredients).

Skills

You’ll learn the cooking skills YOU need to use in your actual kitchen (like chopping, seasoning, and cooking methods) — and skip the stressing over ones you’d only need to win a round of Iron Chef.

Satisfaction

Whether we’re working together one-on-one or connecting through my weekly Substack, I will always encourage you to explore flavors, textures, and combinations so cooking feels as enjoyable as possible.

Since you’re wondering…

What actually happens inside a
kitchen coaching session?

It depends on each client’s individual needs, but essentially:

Kitchen coaching sessions provide a dedicated, non-judgemental space for your clients to learn the skills they need to get food on the table. We can work on things like the logistics of planning meals, grocery shopping, ingredient preparation, using kitchen tools, and more!

Perfect For…

  • Clients who are stable in their recovery or working with a treatment team already
  • People who understand their therapeutic meal plan but struggle with actually preparing it
  • Anyone who wants to build practical cooking skills
  • Clients who can regulate independently and don't need in-the-moment processing support when interacting with food
  • People looking for hands-on skill-building that complements their therapy or nutrition work

Not A Good Fit For…

  • Clients in acute stages of treatment who need more intensive support
  • Anyone looking for therapeutic meal planning, nutrition counseling, or medical nutrition therapy
  • People who need significant support to regulate and/or process food interactions in real time
  • Clients who aren't stable enough to practice cooking skills independently between sessions
  • Anyone expecting kitchen coaching to replace their dietitian, therapist, or treatment team
